Thursday's ETF with Unusual Volume: MXI

The iShares Global Materials ETF (MXI) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 552,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 33,000. Shares of MXI were up about 0.1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Freeport McMoran (FCX), trading down about 1.3% with over 20.7 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Vale (VALE), up about 1.2% on volume of over 17.3 million shares. Gerdau (GGB) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 4.3% on the day, while Owens Illinois (OI) is lagging other components of the iShares Global Materials ETF, trading lower by about 1.6%.
